Hello! I have lived in Shropshire for about 15 years but have only recently moved to Shrewsbury. I am interested in friendship and companionship as much as anything else; I enjoy being out and about and discovering new places. I started working in the area in September after 5 years working abroad in the mining industry. Settling down now and looking for the long term. I love travel, getting into the country when the sun is out ... otherwise happy to chill by the fire :)

I'm seperated and have moved into the area to take a "decent" job after years of being self employed, I do have kids that go back to see every other weekend in Anglesey but spend the rest of the time living just outside Wem and work in Wrexham and Wem - I'm fortunate enough to have a flat that came with the job in a beautiful (but sometimes too quiet) area. My mid-life crisis has kicked in and manifests itself in the form of an interest in looking after myself so I'm hitting the gym as often as I can after work which is a poor substitute for a social and personal life but does kill the evenings - I've made some good friends in the area but they are either married or professional singletons so I feel an outsider but am quite content with my new life other than not seeing the kids often enough but even in that respect things are good their mother is a good mother and still a good friend despite still being all the things that made her an ex we are still friendly but that is a closed chapter and it's time to move on. probably shooting myself in the foot to be talking about this stuff now - it seems to be an issue most avoid on here as they are probably all still married !! Basically what I'm trying to say is that I'm free but do still have obligations and that things aren't messy, somewhere in there is a plus. Spare time wise I love eating out (or in) but hate dining alone, I'm not a big telly watcher but if something grabs me I'll absorb the whole series then never watch the box for weeks, love culture but am not precious about it - been to the ballet so I can say I have but wouldn't queue to do it again, I suspect I'll feel the same about opera so haven't got round to it yet - love museums and am really into live music. I do a lot of work for a charity called the Love Hope Strength Foundation which is a cancer charity fronted by Mike Peters (The Alarm) and involves some great bands so over the coming months I'll join tours with the Stranglers, The Jam (or whats left of them), The Alarm, The Levellers and a few others, I tend to do a couple of dates with each signing up donors to the bone marrow and stem cell register it's great fun and you get to be at sound checks and after show parties, we hold concerts at the top of mountains and I'm hoping to join them on Kilimajaro net time they go there. Last year I walked 100km in a day to raise funds and have a few more daft ideas up my sleeve. I am Welsh and speak the language (badly) but am not fluent. Reading this back it's not as witty as I'd like but I am looking over my shoulder so really shouldn't drone on too much but if theres something in here that interests you please get in touch. I can see why some people do short responses, cut and paste the same one etc as the strike rate seems very low (or it is for me) so I do tend to only bother with the interesting ones (so about one a month). I'm not on here for "fun" but am not banking on riding off into the sunset immediately either, I'm obviously looking for the happy ending but want to make new friends as well, I am a loyal guy when I do get involved but I'm not up for rushing things either - I'm trying to put into words that I'm a nice guy but haven't finalised my dreams yet so am a blank page in many ways which isn't a bad place to be. I haven't met anyone yet and am not in any ongoing email marathons either (thats a nice way of implying that I've not got a full inbox) I'm of the mind that if two people start to gel on here it's worth getting the meeting out of the way sooner rather than later before you know all there is to know. Anyway thats 10 minutes that aren't coming back so please don't let them be wasted ones !
