Seeking the Cat’s Approval: How Felines Can Inform Our Dating Choices

7:38 pm Saturday, 8th August, 2020

Our furry companions seem to have an intuitive sense of whether or not a person is right for us. There are several stories online about pets, especially cats, who spotted red flags about a person long before their human did. In my own experience, my best relationships have been with the guys whom Sylvester (RIP) or Jasmine have warmed up to immediately. If my wingcat has any reason to be afraid of a person, that usually indicates something suspicious lurking beneath the surface. My cats’ unexpected attacks or disappearing acts have often been the prelude to me discovering something incriminating about the person very soon after. I will also never forget the time my brother’s girlfriend picked up sweet little Molly, only for the Ragdoll to fart on her. This was incredibly out of character for Molly, who has always been the epitome of daintiness. Not long after, my brother and his girlfriend had a huge fight that resulted in their break-up (for unrelated reasons), and I can’t help thinking that Molly was trying to tell him something at the time. So, how do you know if your cat is trying to save you from the world of pain? Monitor your cat’s behavior around your significant other and be aware of negative reactions. While some cats are not the type who interact much with other people, continuous hiding or hostility could be their way of telling you something is wrong. Also be sure to observe how your date treats you compared to your feline friend. Does their warmth and kindness apply to both of you, or do they seem to respect one a lot more than the other? The answer can provide valuable insight about a person’s true character. Finally, consider the bond between you and your cat. If they dislike something about a person, and their personality aligns very closely with yours, chances are you might not like it either. With all of this in mind, I am ready to get back into the dating scene after almost two years, confident that Jasmine will maintain her spotless record of gauging a potential boyfriend’s character.

To start with my two sister kitties never liked each other. Had a girl I met online come over to watch a movie and they did a combo attack. One for the ankles and one at the face. They did not break her skin but she was werided out and went home early.
