alisonmol425 (Female) from UK, Winkleigh

Long time single through choice, busy hard working single mum. almost free of mum duties, wondering if there could be a different life out there. In a previous life I have a degree, and had a very impressive CVcareer etc. My daughter has been my focus for a long time, having split from her dad at conception! Perhaps too much information, but honesty is always the best policy. Grew up on a farm in Devon, but career took me all over the country. Some of my work, plus good salaries, have meant that I have very fortunate to see a lot of the world. Not much inclination to travel any more, but trying to be open-minded. Covid, and being in a friendship group of 50+s, has seen a lot of my so-called settled friends newly single in the last year. Sad really, but have some of my pals back. I live in an old cottage in a remote village, but the gardens are just too high-maintenance, so am looking to move next year and will hope for a not-so-good property, replaced by a small field. I think I am quite sharp-witted, but there is nothing like a critic to knock you down 'you're not funny mum'. Having swapped career pressure for a simpler life, i have realised that I have become a little old before my time. Covid has done that too. I find myself being pleased with a day when I have dried all the washing outdoors. WHEN DID I GET THIS OLD AND BORING? Change is due, and with my baby off to Uni soon, I probably need to re-enter the world of grown-ups, and re-establish that I am not 'past it', am 'not bad for my age',. Laughter and a smile.... humour (silly kids stuff and intellectual ping-pong please). If you have a chainsaw????? only as I have only a log burner, and its getting cold now its November. I have not joined yet, although a 'Bow' message tempts me to have a go? I will put a picture on, but how refreshing that I have so many messages (that I cannot open), without one. Should we choose or throw away the chance of a soulmate based on a single image? It all seems pretty ruthless. Chemistry is important, we cannot deny that, but a meeting of minds... and souls.... and dreams... it all feels impossible at times. Keep the faith, life gives us choices. I have tried this before. I spent so much time writing polite replies to people in whom I had no interest, that I didnt have time to progress with those that I liked! Please accept humbled apologies if I use this site's harsh 'no thanks'. It does not fit with the person I am, but is a necessity in a busy world. Good luck. PS. When everyone says 'there are plenty more fish in the sea', they really dont understand that they are in there because they have been previously caught by someone and thrown back in. Alison
