Interesting?
Well,. I'm the original "Stood Up" Guy. The number of blind dates that I've gone on and the lady never turned up. So, I've decided, when I'm dead I want to be lanted feet first so my head stone can read "Stood Up Again. . ."
I am a Born Again Christian and my Love of Christ is central to the way I live. I value greatly, honesty, truth, trust, compassion and kindness and of course, loyalty. There is nothing I wouldn't do for my loved ones and anyone I consider friend and I always think of strangers, friends I haven't got to know yet. I am a very open person, which sometimes leads to vulnerability and I am a very good listener. The break up of my marriage, after 36yrs, hit me hard and took me to a very dark place but thankfully, my love and faith in Christ brought me through it. However, my self esteem has taken a great beating.
I have had a very varied set of careers starting when I was artound twelve when I worked on various farms in my area. The work was back breaking at times but extremely rewarding. In 1983, I completed a two year course at Wigan Technical College where I sat and attained my City and Guilds in Pattern Cutting and Grading in Women's Light Clothing to become a qualified Tailor and Fashion Designer. During this time, I was also the Lead Singer of a Cabaret Group that toured the country on the Pubs and Clubs Scene. I was with them for almost 12 years and then I went as a Self Contained Artiste for a further 5 years. I preformed in other countries too. Plays del Ingles, Gran Canaria, Magaluf in Majorca, San Antonio in Ibiza and Benidorm twice. I also played Douglas in the Isle of Man three times. The last time, we backed up Jerry and the Pacemakers in the Lido Night Club in douglas.
After working in the clothing industry for a number of years I switched tac and worked three years as an Auxilliary Nurse on the David Mather Unit at Billinge Hospital. It was during this time I exercised my one, true love, drawing and sketching and ran a weekly Cartoon Strip in the Wigan Reporter News Paper. I also had a fornightly cartoon spot in the Wigan Rugby League Match Programme. Other than this, I have spent time writing Legal Letters for a Solicitor's Firm and Medical Letters for my loocal GP. During all these varied careers, my main one was as a Comic Book Artist. I drew for the Dandy and Beano comics of the Thompson Group and completed work for Judge Dredd at 2,000AD Comics. For the past 30 years I worked on Commissioned Art and in the last six years I have concentrated on Digital Art. I still get the odd Commission coming in even though I am now retired.
