Hi :-)
I'm a kind, caring, honest and reliable kind of guy. Been told I'm a nice guy ("possibly too nice" not sure if that's a good or a bad thing really) but I can be shyquiet at first, although recent events have made me realise that life's too short not to get stuck and enjoy yourself.
I'd like to travel more in the future, local and abroad. Currently planning a trip to Dublin in the summer, mainly to visit the statue of Phil Lynott, would be great not to have to go alone!
I'm part of a close-knit family who have regular contact with each other so this is also very important to me, as well as the friends I have made over the years.
While I like to think I am a fairly open minded person I tend to get on best with people who have similar interests, I guess that's all I'm looking for at the moment, as I'm not really the footballpub every night kind of guy.
Even though I lucked in to my current position as a Lab Rat for an Aerospace company there is the potential of a long and interesting career in this industry so my job is very important to me. I work a 3 shift pattern and do some overtime, including the weekends, so like to make the most of my time when not there.
Seen as being "Geeky" has become cool since I was last on here I might as well get all of this out of the way now:-
* Pro Wrestling (mainly WWE) that should thin the herd straight away.
* Music, mainly RockBluesMetal but that covers everything from Anthrax to ZZ Top via Imelda May and Iron Maiden, despite this I've still been known to dance really badly to cheesy stuff after enough alcohol has been consumed.
* Playing Guitar, started a band last year but the other guys weren't that committed, this is something else I would like to do again in the future.
* Not a proper "Comic Book Guy" but I do like some of the big Graphic NovelsFilms such as Hellboy, Watchmen, Sin City, Constantine. Yes I do like the Batman films (plus everything else by Christopher Nolan) and the Marvel stuff too.
* Playing Xbox, not a massive Gamer any more. Don't like the idea of staying up all night on energy drinks so I can have annoying American kids whoop my butt and then verbally berate me about it, but I do like some of the more interesting stuff like Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell etc.
* Films, have quite a big collection. This covers everything from real Classics like Midnight Cowboy to "modern classics" like Zodiac (or anything else by David Fincher). Most of it falls in to the actionsci-fihorror category but I've still been known to get a bit emotional watching Forrest Gump.
* TV another big list, recent favourites include Sherlock, Ripper Street, FRINGE, Dexter, got about halfway through Breaking Bad. Older favourites such as X-Files, The Shield, LOST, Red Dwarf, Simpsons etc.
* Reading the "i" newspaper on a Saturday, preferably outside with a nice coffee, but prefer The Daily Mash for the "real" news :-) . Recent book purchases have come from authors as diverse as Edgar Allan Poe to Frankie Boyle, not sure who's mind is the most twisted between those two!
* Visiting interesting places, from local landmarks to museums or cultural events.
* Love animals, don't have any at the moment, used to walk a dog every day but still more of a cat person.
* Getting together with friends and family, family are still local, sadly most of my friends aren't now days. With me only getting 1 in 3 full weekends free it can be difficult to make time for everybody, hence most of the stuff above making me seem very unsociable.
Wow, your still here? Give yourself a high five! Well if you've not been put off by all thatthink you can put up with all that or better yet would like to get involved in all the above then why not drop me a message :-).
