Most women here seek happiness, fun, and honesty. Maybe the separation that led to net-dating included moodiness, deceit, and criticism.
Apart from an inappropriate marriage, I didn't have to endure dishonesty, coldness, or misery, so I'm probably used to women (often in dance, modelling, singing, art, acting) who are kind, affectionate, educated, cultured, creative, CONTEMPORARY, and funny. It's my 'normal'.
I've worked at being 'lucky'. I've not had financial disasters, health issues, or work complications. It all meandered blissfully.
In real life, when we meet someone, we soon filter through what we see and hear, and, generally, accept people. Sometimes it only needs a little conversation: then it's coffee, dinner, a cinematheatre, a weekend away, and air tickets.
On net-dating, everyone (including me) skips over people because of one little thing. In real life, that would soon leave us socially isolated. And, if I walked the streets with a photo and a profile, I'd be avoided as a freak.
I want to bond with someone. It's not chemistry - everyone knows that this sometimes only lasts a week, Nor sparks - which drift up and fade into the night sky. Nor shared interests. Nor a 'look' which, just misleads us (I was a photographer). Just that connection. And why do we believe we have a 'type', and then just repeat the pattern: until death do us part.
I want to meet someone different, talk about different things, go to different places, and get off the train rather than look out of the window at other lives.
My child is 14: smart, clued-up, and affectionate. I like being a father - it's the simplest thing. So meeting someone with kids, or with kids in their wider family, would be good.
Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it will elude you. But, if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder.
