Just a perpetually optimistic, occasionally amusing, kind-natured, endearingly eccentric Scotsman in search of a similar lady to laugh at stupid stuff with and cuddle from time to time.
Well, that's the short version, anyway. I'm originally from the city of Glasgow, but I've always loved the peace and quiet of the West Highlands, and moved up here about eight years ago in search of a more tranquil way of life. Much as I adore living here in the midst of the mountains, it would be delightful to have someone around to share it with, and opportunities to meet anyone new are extremely thin on the ground out here in the wilds.
Who am I? Well, I hope that if you're reading this, you'll be intrigued enough to ask, but I've been many things over the years: a science student, a bar manager, singer in a heavy-metal band, amongst other things. . . . and now I sell fish-&-chips in the evenings in a little village. It's a modest lifestyle, but it suits me perfectly, and allows me ample time to do more of the one thing I should have done more of when I was younger: travelling.
Over the last few years, I've been bitten hard by the travel-bug, particularly in the United States, and I've discovered an affection for the people of the USA which has been a delightful surprise. I even dated someone on the Pacific coast for a while (which didn't work out due to her family commitments), but it opened my eyes to the possibilities of long-distance relationships, which I've discovered CAN work, even with an obstacle the size of the the Atlantic Ocean getting in the way occasionally, so my definition of "near me" is much larger than it used to be. Anywhere in Britain is "just down the road" as far as I'm concerned.
Now, I could sit here all night and compose an excruciatingly narcissistic personal manifesto of "life-goals" and "relationship needs" (which seems to be standard practice) but I don't feel any pressing need to inflict a colossal wodge of navel-gazing waffle (which, to be honest, I would have to invent anyway) on anyone who has been gracious enough to read this far already. Besides, I have a mind so broad that it's open to just about anything!
