Seriously though, someone who is also genuinely looking FOR a partner.
Dating at this stage of life is practically an act of wilful masochism. (And not the fun kind.) Between work, family, friends, social obligations and the like, we have very full lives as it is, and we seem to like them just fine that way. No one is interested in adjusting their lives to accommodate somebody new; we want someone who will neatly fill in the tiny cracks and crevices that are already there. And the chances of finding that are so remote as to be effectively nil.
Yet we continually bash our heads (and our hearts) against that same wall, holding out hope that there even IS hope.
We humans are a strange species, aren't we?
